We’re looking after Patches, my brother-in-law’s dog, “for the long weekend” (until next Tuesday). He hasn’t met Gidget before, and got himself bapbapbapped when he tried to give her a customary canine friendly greeting (sniffing her bum). Gidget was FURIOUS! After some time apart they settled down, though. Patches took a nap, and Gidget decided beating him up could be deferred in favour of just watching him like a hawk, and now they’re both snoozing peacefully on the couch. What a relief 😅

On our way to Shepparton for a day’s excursion! Had to pass through Southern Cross on our way, one of the ugliest stations I’ve seen in my life, which somehow won architectural awards when it was built. tbh it feels very European – the ugly European railway hubs that are all concrete, steel and garish shops everywhere 😆
Gidget’s been driving us mental for months with her insistent (and sometimes destructive) begging for food, so today we went to the pet supplies shop and got her a couple of these things! They’re plastic balls with a small hole that you put kibble in, and she can bat them around the floor to make kibbles fall out. I gave her a demonstration and it wasn’t long before Gidget understood the concept, but she also seems to feel it’s much easier if I just get the kibble out for her 😂 Ah well, she’ll learn!
I bought this stand to sit on top of my desk and elevate my screens for better ergonomics when I’m on the computer (not having to choose between craning my neck to look down or raising my arms high to type). One thing I didn’t consider is that my touchpad is now super elevated, so it’d be desirable to get a mouse I guess. Another thing I didn’t consider: Gidget’s fondness for getting in the way if she ever suspects there’s something I’m more interested in than her! 🤦🏻♀️
Update (3pm next day): I lashed out and bought a Magic Trackpad 🤭
I have so many cute, recent animal photos I haven’t got around to sharing 😞 Anyway, in honour of Caturday, here’s one of my neighbours’ cats1 lounging together on their front porch and enjoying some of the beautiful weather we’ve been having this month. Honestly, it’s such a novelty to me to see cats who get along! Even these two hate my cat 😆 Well, Emma (at the back) hates my cat. Ben (at the front) is neutral, but Emma is the boss so he has to act like he hates her any time Emma’s watching. Ahh, cat politics is quite something 😅

As an aside, interesting how the simple movement of an apostrophe on “neighbours” changes the meaning of “cats” from singular to plural 🤔 ↩︎
